We took it easy this day, leaving Walla Walla at a comfortable
time in the morning, and getting to Seattle shortly after noon.
We had time to go to the
Pike Place Market,
which was in walking distance of the Westin, our hotel. The
concierge there made a reservation for us for dinner at
the Space Needle.
We went there by the Monorail,
and here Mark is waiting on the platform at the terminus at Westlake
Center Mall.

And here we are, in the first thumbnail
(big image, small)
on the Monorail, real tourists. And in the second
(big image, small),
we're in the lobby of the Space Needle waiting for the elevator that would
take us up to the top.
I don’t know why I didn’t take any pictures from the
outer walk of the observation deck on top, but here we are waiting
to be paged for our table in the restaurant.

We got a nice table looking outwards, and the first thumbnail
(big image, small)
shows how we could just barely see Mt. Rainier in the distance.
Later on, at a time when the rotation brought us to look in a
west-northwest direction, we got a nice view of the sunset.

My verdict of the meal is that the raw materials were excellent,
but the treatment was not as skillful as in some other meals we
had on this trip.
And from there we went back to the hotel to get to sleep early enough
to be rested for the van trip to our first walk on the Olympic Peninsula.
