We left fairly early from Pasadena, and there were interesting
things to see along the road before we got to Mammoth Lakes,
but nothing really picturesque. You’ll see that we’ve
taken unnumberable pictures of each other, usually while the other guy is
snapping a picture of something good. Here,
though, Mark is doing the driving northwards—in fact he
did almost all the driving the whole trip. Don’t
forget, to get back from any
picture, hit the “Back” button on your browser.
Once we got to Mammoth Lakes and got settled in our motel,
we drove around to some steep terrain, where we could look
directly out at the tops of trees. Large image,
(1024 by 1536 pixels, about 250K), small,
(512 by 768, about 72K; you can also see the small pictures by
clicking on the thumbnails).
From the same vantage point, there were impressive outcrops and rugged terrain.
