One of the sights on our first walking day, November 5 |
Our first day of travel was November 1, Thursday, when we had arranged for SuperShuttle to take us to LAX in time for our 10:30PM flight on Air New Zealand. That means Terminal 2, much more likely to be full than Continental’s familiar Terminal 6. We got there in plenty of time, and cooled our heels reading and looking for adequate snacks. Our Air New Zealand plane was a nice big one, and not extremely full, so that each of us, being on an aisle across from the other, had an unoccupied seat beside him. Even with the late departure, there was both supper and breakfast. And free New Zealand wine! This was our first exposure to something we wish was more widely exported to our shores: very good.
We took off on November 1, and within about eight hours, it was November 3. International Date Line, you know. We made up for it on the way home by having a 45-hour return day, all on the seventeenth.
