The panorama above is Devlin’s collection of nail polish. She had dumped her bag onto the deck table at the Little House the previous day, perhaps looking for the right color. Nail polish application usually took place here to provide good ventilation. I had seen the pile from the upstairs window and wanted to get a snap of the chaotic pile of the colorful little bottles. Jonathan did get a picture of the pile of bottles, but by the time I got around to it, Maddy had carefully organized them chromatically in the arrangement you see above - which makes the image doubly amusing to us.
Thursday dawned foggy. We had a full house overnight - Jacob inaugurated one of the sleep sofas in the living room. Jonathan and I were the first ones up in the morning, and to avoid waking Jacob we sat on the porch in back with our laptop and iPad. Diane walked over from their rental and began preparing blueberry pies. As the gang wakened the preparation of breakfast began - M'lyn made blueberry pancakes, and Jonathan unadorned waffles. It was a loud and lively bunch - once they woke up. I was nursing a bit of a headache and opted to visit Mom, Dad, Cindy and Mike across the street for some peace and quiet while the aspirin took effect.
Afterwards, Jonathan and I walked on the beach with the idea of walking out to the sand bars. However it was a half moon, meaning the highest low tide (and lowest high tide) made the crossing a little too deep without wearing swim trunks. So as we were contemplating the crossing, Cindy and Mike wandered up and we spent some time chatting before heading back to the cottage, while Cindy and Mike made the crossing.
I put a second coat of orange paint on the spindles of the upstairs railing, and might start adding the blue in the afternoon if it has dried.
If I recall correctly, the Greene Gals took Jacob and Duffy to Palace Playland in the afternoon - I don't recall if Mason joined them or not. I believe he did go on the final visit Friday night.
I hit the grocery story with Mike and Mason - Mason was preparing the meal and was going for provisions, while I was shopping in anticipation of Eszter and Chuck’s visit the next day. Mason made fish burritos for dinner; Cindy cooked the sole, while Mason put together the rest of the multitudinous accoutrements.
I also made reservations at the Harraseeket Inn's Maine Dining Room for Sunday Brunch for 10 - Cindy and Mom were interested in trying the place out on our report. It’s not clear of girls are coming or not - they may head back to Rhode Island on Saturday.
