In the morning, I drove Jonathan to the train station in Old Orchard Beach to catch the train to Boston to visit John and Carol Tate.
I continued a small painting project - the spindles of the rail upstairs. I had painted part of them yellow a day or so earlier. Now I was painting specific sections of them orange, using the acrylic artist paint (cadmium orange).
The cocktail flag. Cocktail hour evolved over the past couple of years where at about 4 to 5 PM, we'd convene on the deck of the King Cottage for an afternoon glass of wine or beer and assorted snackable goodies. These goodies range from fresh fruit (cherries and watermelon), olives, cheese, crackers, and spreads of various interest. After last year's festivities in Pine Point, Cindy suggested half-jokingly that we should have a cocktail flag to let folks at the other houses know that the party is on. So over the winter, I googled the term and found a cocktail flag made the size of nautical flags used on ships. I didn't get any hardware to mount the flag (its not very large), so we just pinned it to the clothesline and ran it out when we were ready to entertain.
For tonight’s meal, M'lyn prepared lemon chicken with a rice/mandarin orange salad and a broccoli slaw. Dad and I went to pick up Jonathan in OOB (the three letter code Amtrak uses is ORB), as Dad wanted to see the train close up. Jonathan texted that the train was delayed, and I ended up downloading the Amtrak app to check up on the progress.
(a) Bluff Island is the closer, and Stratton Island further. I believe that at one time Stratton was inhabited.
(b) Notice that its dark outside, and the girls haven't seemed to move. The facial expressions are, shall we say, a little less than fresh compared to the previous shot.
