I got up the next morning before anyone in the Little House, as I had an errand on my birthday. Jonathan wanted to make blueberry pancakes, and the best place to get Maine blueberries was Hannaford's which opened at 7am. So about 5 before the hour, I drove through the quiet streets of the Point up to Route 1. While at the store, I also purchased a couple of bottles of champagne - if we were celebrating, nothing says it quite like champagne, or in this case, mimosas. Jonathan made a 4X batch of pancake batter and used the entire quart of blueberries in them. We managed to eat most of them, but there were some left to nosh on during the day.
Before lunch, Jonathan and I went out on errands. The first stop was Best Buy to see if they had any portable printers - they did but the cost was 3 times more than Mr. Lubin's price point. We then went to the Apple Store to seek guidance on an issue with our WiFi/Airport Extreme. The earliest appointment was 1:45pm, so we decided to have lunch amid our errands and take the slot. After lunch at Chili's we returned to the store and discussed our problem with one of the "geniuses", but we both felt that these folks were more conversant in the other hardware - Macs, iPads, and iPods - rather than the WiFi. We did get a pointer that Jonathan dutifully wrote down on his pad of paper. So after a swing by Lowe's for the final stop, we headed back to the Little House.
Jonathan and I tried the solution that the Apple Store genius had provided us, and of course we couldn't find the setting/dialog he cited. We did find some settings that corresponded to some of the bulletin board discussions on issues similar to ours, so we did try a tweak there. That seem to help somewhat, as Mike's PC running Windows 7 was able to connect. His Android tablet however is still getting authentication error messages. We'll have to take the hardware into the store sometime next week along with one of the devices that's not connecting.

The fresh cherry galette.
In the afternoon, Maddy made pie dough for my attempt at making a fresh Cherry Galette. I made two using bing cherries because we couldn't locate any Rainier cherries.
Later in the afternoon, I took the shot at the top of the page was taken after cocktail hour as the sun painted the clouds.
Dinner was my birthday celebration - this time the selection was Maine farmed Atlantic salmon, along with roasted green beans, tomatoes and mozzarella. Cindy had bought a cake for the birthday, so we had two dessert courses, the cake and then the Cherry Galette. The galette recipe was deemed to be a keeper, although I think I'll use a pie dish next time as the dough was too brittle to keep the juices in.
