Not all my pictures were taken looking out
over the broad expanse of the forest. I took loads of closer-up shots,
because I was so fascinated with the epiphytes, and especially the ferns.
I’m supposing that the big spike in the top row, left
shot (big image,
small) is the inflorescence of the Cut-leaf
Philodendron there: certainly the flowers look exactly like that on our
outdoor plants at home. And everything everywhere gets encrusted, like the
tree-trunk on the right in that row (big image,
small).
Ferns! so many of them! The left shot on the
second row shows a wonderful one with coarsely divided leaves—I used
a different picture of it for the background pattern of these pages.
(Big image,
small.) Next are three shots of a little
expanse of ferns that I liked (second row right: big
image, small; third row left:
big image,
small; third row right:
big image,
small).
In the fourth row, two shots of branches thoroughly encrusted with epiphytes
(left, big image
small; right, big
image, small). And in the fifth
row, more ferns, at least I presume that that’s what they are, with
their long and undivided but wavy leaves (big
image, small).
Finally, some people for a change, in the fifth row on the right: that’s
Sean probably reacting to one of Neal’s jokes (big
image, small). Sixth and last row in
this block, Judy visible in large and
small versions, and then Leo, also
available in large and
small.
