It was a lot of traveling we were getting set to do at 6:30 in the morning of Monday the ninth, and as it turned out there were no hitches at all.
Mark planned it so that our hotel would be in walking distance of the railroad station, and we just hauled our rumbling bags over the rough sidewalks and streets to the station, then hopped on a train to Fiumicino. The picture on the left has Mark waiting there and placidly writing in his journal, with the hubbub all around.
One thing I did notice about the Rome airport is that there are a great many more loud Americans there than there are in EWR, the Newark airport. Our flight was a bit late getting in to Newark, but our flight out was delayed, too, so there were no problems connecting.
The final picture, to the right, shows Mark sitting waiting outside the arrival terminal at LAX for the Super Shuttle for Pasadena to take us home. This was 8:40PM Los Angeles time, and we got to bed by about eleven. We slept very well.
