dramatically lit ferns
Yet more ferns (you can get a bigger version, too).

Monday, 19 November,

We got up early to finish off our packing and get the rented and borrowed stuff back to its proper owners. There was still time for a few pictures, of which I made very few at this time. Standing on the overhanging end of the “long house” as Mark calls it, I took the two of tree ferns that you see to either side here. Also the two below on the left, my last pictures of the forest thereabout.

We had a quick breakfast of müsli and plant-based yoghurt, accompanied by coffee of course. (All praise to the fact that coffee and wine meet the qualifications to be deemed to be vegan.)

Before long, we were hiking downhill to where we would be picked up by the van. In contrast to the woodsy and overgrown path we had used to come up to the base camp, we took the access road, less of a challenge to the geezer. And Jo also was using this path to haul the luggage back on the motorized carrier.

On the way to Waratah, where we dropped Ira off to meet his parents, we stopped at a place where we could take a most scenic walk through very fine vegetation. That’s the last eight pictures you see here.

Once we got back into the van, it seemed to me that we were being dropped off at our hotel in Launceston. There, we showered, changed our clothes, and went off to dinner. In the morning, super early, we got picked up by a taxi for the ride to the airport. The return was Launceston-to-Melbourne-to-Los Angeles-to-Roanoke, from which we drove in rented car to Blacksburg for several days with family.

And so ended our adventure in TASMANIA.
